Life as a Reader

I conducted an Author Study, for teaching purposes, my main point in this whole presentation is that reading can be fun and entertaining. Some authors dedicate their whole lives to reading and writing, the more students they can influence to read, the happier they will be. The same goes for Gary Paulsen, the subject of my author study.

Digital Story

I see myself has an open reader, meaning I like to read anything from cover to cover. I have read everything from mysteries to westerns to love stories. What I like best right now is The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper, it is an older historical book about the Mohican Indians being moved out of their homes, it is a book for advanced readers and has a lot of rich history that I enjoy very much. When I was a child my favorite book was The Very Hungry Caterpillar  by Eric Carle some of you students may have read this yourselves, or to your younger siblings, or your parents may have read it to you. I remember liking the book so much for the pictures in it, I rarely listened to the words and just wanted to turn the page over. Children always want to read, its finding what genre they like that is the hard part. My nephew who is three only likes books with pictures of animals and cowboys, he is very into "reading" books with those types of pictures. To get a child to read, ask them what they like, and find that in a book. My job right now is a full time student to be a teacher, while I waitress on the side to make ends meet. In my rare spare time, I like to be outdoors, fishing, swimming, hunting, riding horses, working on the family ranch, and spending quality time with the ones I love, and when the sun goes down I enjoy going out and dancing, anything to make myself feel less stressed. My family is the most supportive and loving family a gal could find. My grandfather is my inspiration to be the greatest I can, and my mother is my backbone, and my father is my protector, without these fine people in my life I would be much less of a person.
